Taylor US Open exclusion 'wrong'

Torrance receives lifetime award

Award-winning Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance is a Scottish Golf lifetime achievement award.

Torrance award received in the year marks a decade since he led the European team to victory over the United States in the belfry.

The 58-year-old be the third recipient of award from the Scottish Golf Union.

Former Open champion Paul Lawrie and eight winners order of merit Colin Montgomerie last year received.

And Torrance said: "I am the privilege, the Scottish Golf life get achievement award."

"I love to play golf in Scotland and I love to come to Scotland home."

Largs-born Torrance played in eight Ryder Cup teams in 1985, when he putt the victorious, fell, 1987, 1989 and 1995, and was made MBE and OBE.

Since turning professional has 40 years ago, Torrance 22 titles on the European tour and 11 senior tour title won.
