McIlroy rise no shock for Ogilvy

Rory McIlroy rise to number one in the world is not surprising that former U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy.

The Australian says he knew that the golf landscape set to change when he for the first time in 2009 the Northern IRE played with.

Its first meeting was in the quarter-finals of the WGC beat Ogilvy McIlroy match play in Arizona.

"Since that first day I saw him play, he was a level above us," said US Open champion 2006.

On his third world win Ogilvy, who went Golf Championship that week reminded riding back to the clubhouse with its carrier, Alistair 'Squirrels' Matheson after the game.

"Both squirrels and I said: 'This guy will be unbelievable'."

"And then squirrel said: 'Do you have the number to be one, you'll be better than this guy'."

McIlroy's compatriot and three major winners Padraig Harrington says that it can be no debate about the 22-year-old's move number one status after winning Honda classic.

"This is, why nobody is going to have complaints about Rory world number one."

"He won major at a young age." He has the game. Yes, you can compare him with Tiger [Woods]. He has still much to do. And there is no doubt that the Tigers are 14 majors very impressive.

"But if you're going to win a lot of the majors you have they to win early."

"With 22 years of age, the world number one a major in the Bank will he play a lot of the majors where he will be the favorite."

Harrington won his first major in Carnoustie in 2007, as an 18-year-old McIlroy bogey-free played in the first round for a 68 and went win on the amateur price
